A pickle jar and some sticks

I am back after a long hiatus. My library life keeps me pretty busy, but my crafts are my true passion. So here is my first one back. I saw this original idea on Pinterest and took a twist with it. It’s a stick covered decorative jar. It can be used as a candle holder, a decorative piece for your house indoor/or outdoor, or just a pencil holder. Everything I had was lying around the house some inside and some out! I used a pickle jar and I have an oak tree out back so I just picked up some sticks laying underneath the tree.

Here is what you need:

  • a recycled jar (salsa, pickle, jalapeno will work)
  • sticks
  • hot glue gun

Let’s Make it:

  1. First gather some sticks, all different lengths. Depending on the size of the jar you use you may need 50-100 sticks.
  2. Next plug in your glue gun and grab your jar. Lay down some newspaper because you want the jar to sit flat at all times so the sticks stay even with the bottom of the jar.
  3. Now start gluing the sticks around the jar. It doesn’t matter what order or how you glue, make it look rustic, overlap the sticks.
